Pakistan is a country of rich cultural and historical heritage. Without knowing the past of Pakistan it is impossible to comprehend the present country. To delve into the riches of Pakistan visit the National Museum of Pakistan.

The National Museum of Pakistan is located in Karachi. It was founded in 1950 in Frere Hall by replacing the Victoria Museum.

Frere Hall is a historic building built in the year 1865 in tribute to the Commissioner of Sind, Sir Bartle Frere in 1865. The main objective of National Museum was collection, preservation and exhibition of the cultural heritage of Pakistan and to promote an insight into the personality of the people of Pakistan.

In 1970 the National museum of Pakistan was shifted to the Burns Garden premises located in Dr Zia-ud-din Road. In that time the museum had four galleries. Now there are 11 galleries in the National museum. The Quarn Gallery is one of the most exquisite galleries with a collection of over 300 copies of the Holy Book of Quran. Among them there are 52 rare manuscripts which are displayed in the Quran Gallery. There are many items related to cultural heritage of Pakistan. The other galleries in this Pakistan museum displays manuscripts speaking of political history of Pakistan, manuscripts and ancient coins, miniature paintings, Islamic Art, sculptures of Gandhara Civilization and artifacts of Indus Civilization.
