Karachi National Museum of Pakistan

The Karachi National Museum of Pakistan was set up in 1949 with the intention of displaying excavated residuals of ancient civilization, historical records, events of history, ethnological and numismatics documents. You will get to see a large relief map showing the various routes connecting the major regions of South Western Asia at the side of the main entrance.

And within the gallery, the excavated materials of Stone Age, Baluchistan and Indus Valley Civilization have been placed in a chronological order. You will be shocked to see the remains of the highly planned civilization Moenjodaro in the Karachi National Museum of Pakistan. You would not have imagined such carefully laid out streets, well designed houses and effective drainage system even in today's developed countries.

The Karachi National Museum also displays the attractive semi precious stone, gold, bronze and silver jewelries of both men and women along with some household objects like needles, knives, axes, fishing hooks, locks, saws, pottery etc. A visit to the Karachi National Museum is like exploring the history and glory of past civilizations. The Pakistan government is trying its best to preserve all these residuals to educate people about the rich culture, architecture and art of Indus Valley Civilization. Get an idea of the village culture of Baluchistan and Gandhara workmanship from the displays. The best part of the Karachi National Museum is that it is highly organized and as you move on from the main entrance to gallery and then from Buddhist gallery to the terracotta figures and copper utensils, you will feel like walking down the phases of history. Everything is being kept in chronological order and that is why any person can understand the flow of history from the organized arrangements of the excavated materials.
