This jeep rally was initiated at this part of the country mainly to introduce Pakistani drivers to the international standard of driving in this desert area. A Camp Bazaar is a week-long ‘mela’ set up near Derawar. Derawar Fort Cholistan culture takes active part in projecting the local Cholistan Desert culture, handicrafts of the Cholistani folks and the economic activities of the natives of ‘Rohillas’. The festivities of this region of Cholistan draw the attention of tourists from round the globe. Camel races, bull-cart races, camel fights are organized on sides of the Camp Bazaar. These programs are organized around four days prior to the starting of Camp Bazaar.
‘Rohillas’ sell the authentic pieces of their handicrafts. The ‘flassi’ is a unique piece of the local craft that is an authentic piece of artwork which is popular among tourists and costly at the same time. This product is made of camel hair. Flassi is actually a mat of very fine quality and it is often used as the ‘chadar’ by the affluent people for keeping themselves warm.
